Voleos Workshop 1/2
Voleos Workshop 1/2
Saturday 26 April
Workshop Details:
A two part workshop on the why and how of voleos (the "whip" effect) for leaders and followers. This workshop is divided in two parts and we recommend that you take both classes, but you do not need to attend both in order to come to either workshop. You do not need any previous experience on voleos, but this class is not suitable for complete beginners. The prerequisites are: - an understanding of the forward and backward pivot as well as forward and backward ochos (for leaders, how to lead this) - an understanding of dissociation of upper and lower body - an understating of the free leg and supporting leg. If you have danced tango for at least two months and you feel relatively comfortable with the above, or if you have been dancing for a while but are looking for a refresher on how organic voleos work, then this class is for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! Programme: Part 1: Saturday 26th April: - 7pm - 8:30pm: voleos from the root. What is the voleo in its simplest form? You will learn tools to create a strong base and fluid movement in the free leg. Leaders will learn to effortlessly lead voleos: how to create energy and transform it within the couple in a soft and natural way. - 8:30 - 9pm: mini practica Part 2: Saturday 24th May: - 7pm - 8:30pm: A deeper exploration of the voleo, with example sequences to put this into practice. We will briefly revise the concepts of the previous class, but focus on the following topics: different motors within the body to create different "flavours" of boleos depending on the music. High and low voleos and tips for how to best dance and lead them in the milonga. - 8:30 - 9pm: mini practica The online price for each workshop is £20 and £15 for full time student. We recommend that you book online as we will be monitoring the follower/leader balance and will close bookings depending on this and room capacity. You can also pay at the door (£23/£18), availability permitting. Address: Jericho Community Centre (1st Floor) 33A Canal Street Oxford OX2 6BQ Please ring the bell to enter.
